BRIDGE OF LOVE 2014 - PRODUCTION TEAM - GARTH PORTER - RECORDING PRODUCER

Garth Porter - RECORDING Producer

Garth Porter is a New Zealand born Australian musician, songwriter and record producer. Garth is perhaps best known as a member of the 1970s supergroup Sherbet, and for his key role as co-writer and producer for Australian country music superstar Lee Kernaghan.

As Sherbet's keyboard player, Garth also co-wrote most of their hit songs, including the huge 1976 UK and Australian hit 'Howzat'. Garth also sang lead vocals on the Sherbet tracks 'Hollywood Dreaming' and 'Matter of Time'. Garth's production credits in the Australian music industry also began in the 1970s. In the 1980s Garth produced the LP 'Wildcat' for The Sunnyboys.

In the early 1990s, after producing James Blundell's album 'Hand it Down', as well as Craig McLaughlin and Check-1-2's eponymous pop debut, Garth helped launch the career of Lee Kernaghan, co-writing many of Lee's songs and producing Lee's ARIA award-winning albums including 'The Outback Club' with its huge-selling 'Boys From The Bush', and 'Three Chain Road' with the hit 'She's My Ute'.

During 1994, Garth was responsible for producing the original CD 'Bridge of Love', carefully arranging more than 30 vocal parts of varying ranges and stylistic distinctions into seamless blends and transitions between all of the voices across the track, bringing together the massively complex logistics of the production schedule within a tight deadline, and delivering yet another award-winning hit.

In more recent years Garth has continued working as a producer with Lee Kernaghan and other major artists including Colin Buchanan, Tania Kernaghan, Sara Stora, Gina Jeffreys, Troy Cassar-Daley, Leo Sayer and newer artists such as Straalen McCallum.

Song writing credits include the hits – Boys From The Bush, Three Chain Road, They Don’t Make ‘em Like That Anymore, Kick The Kenny, Tooraweena Cowgirl, Hat Town, Raining On The Plains, Girl’s Night Out, Goondiwindi Moon, Trail Of Dreams, and The Way It Is.

Garth co-wrote some of the songs for the live musical theatre production 'The Man from Snowy River: Arena Spectacular' which toured Australian capital cities twice, along the way picking up an ARIA award for 'Best Cast/Show Album'.

In Sydney, Garth's professional home is at Rancom St Studios, where the song for the Bridge of Love Project 2014 is being produced.
