Australian country music ARTISTS BRING IT AGAIN for Barnardos Australia. Because some kids in the lucky country need our help.
In 1994 the most played country music song on community radio in Australia was Bridge of Love, the #1 chart-topping and Golden Guitar award-winning vocal collaboration featuring more than 30 major country music artists, a dozen great musicians, and 120 children from three school choirs, all beautifully recorded in a massive studio under the direction of producer Garth Porter and organiser Melanie Williamson. Endorsed by the Australian Government as an official project of the International Year of the Family, and filmed as a documentary and award-nominated music video by Warren Lynch, the event raised huge national awareness and support for the work being done by Barnardos Australia to assist children at risk due to family crisis and disadvantage in 1994, the International Year of the Family.

2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family and Bridge of Love as an official Australian endeavour. The issues which inspired Bridge of Love in 1994 are more pressing today. Government has become even more reliant upon non-government organisations such as Barnardos Australia to provide frontline welfare, foster care, continuous support and mentorship for children and young people in at-risk situations. The decision was made for 2014 not just to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bridge of Love, but for Australian country music to make a new effort to help kids in crisis through Barnardos Australia. Country music, itself like a big family, cares for kids.
