BRIDGE OF LOVE 2014 - ANNIVERSARY RE-RELEASE
20th Anniversary Radio Re-Release 'Bridge of Love'
In March 2014, the original radio-single recording of 'Bridge of Love' is being re-released to Australian radio by kind courtesy of CRS (Country Radio Singles) to mark the 20th anniversary of this official anthem for the International Year of the Family by Australian country music.
The song 'Bridge of Love' was the most played community radio station country music song in 1994, achieving #1 position on the country music charts as 1994 drew to a close. 'Bridge of Love' would receive the inaugural Golden Guitar award for Vocal Collaboration of the Year in January 1995, and nominations for two other Golden Guitar awards.
A near-complete snapshot of the Australian country music industry of the mid-1990s, the original 'Bridge of Love' recording features Lee Kernaghan, Gina Jeffreys, Colin Buchanan, Graeme Connors, Anne Kirkpatrick, Smoky Dawson, Jimmy Little, Kasey Chambers in the Dead Ringer Band, Beccy Cole, and numerous other country music artists and musicians bringing their respective talents to the cause for the International Year of the Family and Barnardos Australia.
Produced by Garth Porter and recorded in one mega-session at the capacious former studios Electric Avenue / 48 Volt in Darling Harbour, the original 'Bridge of Love' recording was on a scale that had never been attempted before in Australian country music, and could never be repeated with legends Smoky Dawson and Jimmy Little having passed away in the meantime.
Hear the original 1994 'Bridge of Love' recording and see if you can pick out the vocalists doing their individual lines. Then watch the original 'Bridge of Love' documentary film, and see if you've been able to guess them all.
